There will be a meeting for residents of Albuquerque's City Council District 5 on March 23, 2010.

"Please join City Councilor Dan Lewis, Mayor R.J. Berry and city staff at a meeting for the West Side, District 5. We will discuss current initiatives from the city regarding public safety and other west side priorities. There will also be updates from West Wide elected officials regarding the legislative Session 2010."

The meeting will start at 7pm and we be held at the Don Newton Taylor Ranch Community Center.

In the past these meetings have been very informative. Attending is a great way to stay in touch with what's happening on Albuquerque's west side. Please join other members of the Piedras Marcadas Neighborhood Association at this event!

Old San Ysidro Church

"This church was constructed in 1868 after a flood destroyed an earlier building. Built on land donated by the Gutierrez family of Corrales it incorporates materials salvaged from the original structure and is one of the finest surviving examples of 19th century religious architecture in New Mexico."    NM Historic Marker

Corrales NM

Corrales NM is a unique place. The sleepy Village of Corrales is nestled between Albuquerque (to the south), Rio Rancho (to the north and west) and the Sandia Pueblo to the east. The population of Corrales is about 7500 people.

When you drive into Corrales you know immediately that you have crossed into a different kind of place.

The first thing you notice is that it's really green. That's because it's on the banks of the Rio Grande. You'll see horses, cattle and sheep as you drive through town, plus you'll see apple orchards and grape vineyards too.

Corrales is an Historical place. Prehistoric sites indicate the Corrales valley had inhabitants as early as 500 AD. Besides Old San Ysidro church, today there are shops and restaurants in town, including some very fine places to eat.

Homes for sale in Corrales NM currently range in price from $114,000-$498,000. There are 105 homes currently on the market.

In 2009 there were 77 Corrales home sales. The average house was 2,786 square feet, the average sales price was $440,986 with an average market time of 188 days.

These numbers are helpful and all, but of course there's absolutely nothing average about Corrales NM Homes for Sale!

Albuquerque Old Town (25 minutes away)

Visit the historic church or walk around shop and soak up the ambiance of Old Town.

Native American History and Culture

Visit Native American pueblos, visit on feast days, check out ceremonial dances at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, or take a drive and see Bandelier National Monument, Chaco Culture National Historic Place or the Aztec Ruins near Farmington.

Here's the year end Real Estate sales numbers for Paradise Skies NM.

There were 37 closed sales in Paradise Skies in 2009. The neighborhood was relatively unaffected by short sales with only 4 this year.  Only 1 sale was a bank owned property.

There were 36 canceled/expired listings during the year which means selling a home in Paradise Skies was a 50/50 proposition.

The average sales price has continued to decline since it's peak in 2006/2007.

Average days on the market was 74.

Paradise Skies is one of the most affordable neighborhoods in Northwest Albuquerque. The neighborhood consists of modest sized homes built primarily by Longford and DR Horton. I expect values on the neighborhood to do well over the next few years as many jobs will be moving into the area once the new Rio Rancho Presbyterian Hospital is completed. The hospital will be less than one mile from Paradise Skies.

School children WestPointe Park go to Ventana Ranch Elementary school, Tony Hillerman Middle School and Volcano Vista High Schools. Tony Hillerman and Volcano Vista are newer schools; Hillerman opened in 2009 and Volcano Vista opened in 2007. Ventana Ranch Elementary opened in 2004. There is also a new elementary school in the neighborhood, Tierra Antigua, so be careful to check with APS to determine where your child might go.
