South Pointe Subdivision at Ventana Ranch is a small subdivision in Northwest Albuquerque. The homes in the neighborhood were built by Sivage Thomas from approximately 1999-2003.

School children in South Pointe go to Ventana Ranch Elementary school, Tony Hillerman Middle School and Volcano Vista High Schools. Tony Hillerman and Volcano Vista are newer schools; Hillerman opened in 2009 and Volcano Vista opened in 2007. Ventana Ranch Elementary opened in 2004. There is also a new elementary school in the neighborhood, Tierra Antigua, so be careful to check with APS to determine where your child might go. Use the "Which School District am I in" tool on the APS homepage.

Country Hills Park is located nearby. Country Hills Park is a large park with a large grassy field,  a playground for toddlers and small children and a covered picnic area.

District 5 Spring Meeting March 23

There will be a meeting for residents of Albuquerque's City Council District 5 on March 23, 2010.

"Please join City Councilor Dan Lewis, Mayor R.J. Berry and city staff at a meeting for the West Side, District 5. We will discuss current initiatives from the city regarding public safety and other west side priorities. There will also be updates from West Wide elected officials regarding the legislative Session 2010."

The meeting will start at 7pm and we be held at the Don Newton Taylor Ranch Community Center.

In the past these meetings have been very informative. Attending is a great way to stay in touch with what's happening on Albuquerque's west side. Please join other members of the Piedras Marcadas Neighborhood Association at this event!

Corrales NM HorsesCorrales NM is a unique place. The sleepy Village of Corrales is nestled between Albuquerque (to the south), Rio Rancho (to the north and west) and the Sandia Pueblo to the east. The population of Corrales is about 7500 people.

When you drive into Corrales you know immediately that you have crossed into a different kind of place.

The first thing you notice is that it's really green. That's because it's on the banks of the Rio Grande. You'll see horses, cattle and sheep as you drive through town, plus you'll see apple orchards and grape vineyards too.

Corrales is an Historical place. Prehistoric sites indicate the Corrales valley had inhabitants as early as 500 AD. Besides Old San Ysidro church, today there are shops and restaurants in town, including some very fine places to eat.
