Radon in Albuquerque

Think we don't have Radon in Albuquerque? You might be surprised to find out you are mistaken!

Here is a quote from a Radon report by New Mexico Radon concerning Radon in Albuquerque.

"The New Mexico/EPA Radon survey conducted in 1988/89 included 62 tests in zip code 87111. Results from 87111 indicate a 43% percent probability of any house tested being above 4.0 plC/l. The same database indicates a 28% probability of any Bernalillo county house tested having a radon test level greater than 4.0 plC/l."

EPA recommends mitigation at 4.0 plC/l.

I don't think there is a 43% probability of wood destroying insects in Albuquerque, yet wood destroying insect inspections are ordered on almost every purchase transaction. Why, when there's a 43% probability of radon being present in dangerously high levels, aren't all buyers and their agents asking sellers to have radon tests performed?

If you are concerned about Radon in your home, don't be afraid to ask for a Radon inspection. If your Realtor blows you off, call me, I'll take your concerns about your family's safety seriously.
