The New Mexico Symphony Orchestra Player's Association will be performing a fund raising concert, this Sunday November 1, 2009, at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Nob Hill.
The symphony musicians previous contract ended August 31, 2009, and contract negotiations have stalled. Management is asking the players to make severe concessions in the new contract, including an 18-23% reduction in wages and elimination of pension contributions and health insurance. Orchestra Management has canceled several concerts so far this season and left many musicians with no income.
The real losers in this battle are the residents of Albuquerque.
The program for the benefit concert includes Dvorak's ever popular Symphony Number 9 (New World Symphony), Vaughan Williams Fantasia on Greensleeves and Weber's Andante and Hungarian Rondo.
For tickets call 505.255.7069. Proceeds from the concert will go to NMSOPA musicians in need.
For more information about this weekend's concert visit the NMSOPA's website.

Please support the musicians by attending the New Mexico Symphony Benefit Concert.
